From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A society is a body of individuals that is outlined by the bounds of functional interdependence, comprising also possible characteristics or conditions such as national or cultural identity, social solidarity, or eusociality. Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals that share a distinctive culture and institutions. Like other communities or groups, a society allows its individual members to achieve needs or wishes that they could not fulfill separately by themselves without the existence of solidarity. Society, however, can be ontologically independent of, and utterly irreducible to, the qualities of constituent individuals; it may act to oppress. The urbanization and rationalization inherent in some, particularly Western capitalist, societies, has been associated with feelings of isolation and social "anomie". More broadly, a society is an economic, social or industrial infrastructure, made up of a varied multitude of individuals. Members of a society may be from different ethnic groups. A society may be a particular ethnic group, such as the Saxons; a nation state, such as Bhutan; a broader cultural group, such as a Western society. The word society may also refer to an organized voluntary association of people for religious, benevolent, cultural, scientific, political, patriotic, or other purposes. A "society" may even, though more by means of metaphor, refer to a social organism such as an ant colony. From Wikipedia under the

To what extent does society respond to deviances and how it restores and disrupts social order? Thanks! :) Asked by ~Stabbing the Drama~ - Wed Oct 22 19:57:02 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. depends on how you define deviance i guess :) are you defining it morally, religiously, or purely from a criminal justice perspective? depending on the definitions and the era in society you are concentrating on, one man's deviancy is another man's employment :) political implications may also depend on whether such 'deviancy' disrupts or restores social order - example, 'moral outrage'! hope this helps Answered by hi! iq - Wed Oct 22 21:15:52 2008 How to change our society's incentive from greed to goodness? Answered by jemhasb - Wed Oct 14 08:32:30 2009 What exactly does a volunteer at a humane society do?
Q. I need volunteer hours for a full ride scholarship, so I'm looking at the local humane society. I also have to fill out a form regarding the "types of services performed" and I also want to personally know what your job is when volunteering at one. So what do you do? Please answer only if you have volunteered before or you have experience with a humane society. This is important! Thank you! Actually, the one I would be at doesn't euthanize. They simply stop taking animals when they get full up. Asked by Bumblebee - Fri Oct 24 18:12:08 2008 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments A. There are some places that do NOT euthanize- these Shelters do 1-Attempt to retrain an animal to be put back into a home 2-You will be Cleaning cages, runs, bowls, bedding etc.. this allows the more experienced workers to change dressings/bandages, give medications, walk the animals, work with the animals to rehabilitate them etc 3-You might feed the animals You will do anything necessary if you Truly want to volunteer, or are u just looking for credits on a resume`? Or possibly someone to say Ahh isn't she nice? It is not the most pleasant place to be day to day. But, I suggest you @ least give it a try. They can always use the help.
